Washinomiya Registers the Hiiragi Family of "Lucky Star", Issues Special "Juminhyo"

The town of Washinomiya (Kita Katsushika County, Saitama Prefecture), famous for being the setting of the work "Lucky Star (Raki-Suta)" has registered the Hiiragi family as their official resident, and to celebrate this event, the town will be issuing a special "Juminhyo" (a registry of current residential addresses maintained by local governments) from April 7 (Monday). The number of this special "Juminhyo" is limited to 10,000 copies, and prior to its official release, 5,000 copies will be issued at the "day of special issuing" on April 6 (Sunday).

The special event is a collaboration project in which the town of Washinomiya is cooperated by the publisher of "Lucky Star", Kadokawa Shoten Publishing and the Societies of Commerce and Industry of Washinomiya (Washinomiya Shokoukai). Around the summer of 2007, this "Lucky Star (Raki-Suta)" (Kagami Yoshimizu, Kadokawa Publishing) had sparked shrine pilgrimages by the otaku fans, but its pilgrimage fever never seems to fade, resulting to an official visit to the Washinomiya Shrine on December 2007. Furthermore, it was stated that the average number of people visiting the Washinomiya Shrine for "hatsumoude" (the first shrine visit of the New Year) is approximately 90,000, but for the year 2008 its number had increased to approximately 300,000 visitors, ranking third within the Saitama prefecture.

When anime otaku first appeared around Washinomiya, its local people felt uncomfortable to see those unfamiliar types of people in their town. Later, led by the Washinomiya Shokoukai the town is engaged to "make the town to prosper by MOE anime" as on of its regional improvement project.

The "Juminhyo" copy is made with an original design, fully colored in A4 size, and comes in a clear file folder.

The "Juminhyo" is limited one copy per person, and at the special issuing day on April 6 (Sunday), there will be a special issuing event will be held at the restaurant "Ootori Chaya" (run by Washinomiya Shokoukai Youth Group) from 10 am, followed by official issuing at the town hall of Washinomiya (6-1-1 Washinomiya, Washinomiya-cho, Kita Katsushika County, Saitama Prefecture / phone: 0480-58-1111) from noon.
